and that tweet was very swiftly removed. which created another 'wave of news' about that removal...
That toilet paper line is
Nico was told by someone to delete the tweet. But one tweet was enough to start with the Pirelli tyre drama for 2014.. And it's not even 2014 yet. I really hope Pirelli make proper racing tyres for 2014. It's a shame they had to "revert" to 2012-spec tyres or the championship battle may have stayed closer until the end..

Pirelli: Nothing to worry about
Pirelli says there is no cause for concern following Nico Rosberg's tyre blow-out during testing in Bahrain.
Mercedes' run at the tyre test was brought to a premature end on Thursday after Rosberg suffered the nasty scare.
The German tweeted that the full speed, 320km/h blow-out had left him needing to "get some toilet paper", but later deleted the message from his Twitter account.
Pirelli have subsequently released a statement saying the tyres used by Rosberg were a prototype that will not be used during the 2014 season.
The statement reads: "The tyre tests in Bahrain regarded a number of prototypes, which were completely innovative in terms of structure and compounds, with the aim of developing the most suitable solutions for the next season.
"This morning Nico Rosberg's Mercedes was fitted with one of these prototypes, a tyre which had only been tested in the laboratory and which will not be proposed again.
"Thus, the safety of the tyres which will be supplied for the next Championship is not in question.
"The accident which happened to Rosberg's car is being investigated and the findings will be communicated to the FIA and the teams."
The three-day Pirelli test at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain started on Tuesday, with Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes and Toro Rosso all taking part.
Data generated from the test is confidential.

I wonder what Rosberg thinks about Pirelli playing with his life with theese prototype tyres

He is silent in Twitter

I'm sure someone (likely Pirelli + Mercedes) told him to delete the tweet and not to mention anything else. But the message was pretty clear what his feelings were based off of the "toilet paper" comment.
It's not OK for tyres to be exploding when a car is traveling 200mph. Especially when Pirelli has a history of tyres exploding throughout several F1 seasons. One isolated incident would be another story.. But Pirelli's history of unsafe tyres makes this even worse.
I can't say I'm personally a fan of Gerard Lopez, but I think his comments on Autosport.com are very fair about the way his team gets such negative press. Some of it is due to his own shortcomings. But I definitely agree they deserve respect for "punching above their weight" and finishing where they did despite a budget significantly smaller than the teams ahead.

+1 and it's really unfair that the big teams, those who have most money also get most money from FOM though special deals with Bernie. If it would be shared fairly the smaller teams would have less problems.

I'd rather be trying to have a long back-slapping chat on the grid about meaning of life with Kimi than trying to wrap Christmas presents...

Ferrari president says Formula 1 simulators are a joke
By Jonathan Noble Wednesday, December 25th 2013, 12:50 GMT
Luca di Montezemolo
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has slammed Formula 1's reliance on simulators as a 'joke'.
With F1's recent strict in-season testing ban having forced teams to rely on ever more complicated simulator technology, di Montezemolo thinks the time has come for a rethink.
He believes that the expense of simulators is now such that serious consideration should be given to a wholesale return to testing as it would be better for teams - and cheaper.
"It is a joke," said di Montezemolo during a lunch with media at Fiorano. "We have been forced to invest a huge amount of money in these terrible machines, artificial, instead of testing here [at Fiorano] and Mugello.
"If somebody has no money to do tests, it is better to race in GP2, in go karts or go and play basketball. I want to do testing to first of all give new drivers the possibility to drive cars and get experience.
"But I also want to give more opportunities to the public because from one race weekend to another it is silent in F1. There is nothing, nothing.
"Testing is also a good opportunity for the sponsors, to call the public. And tests are less expensive than building and developing every month the terrible simulator. This is something we have to discuss for the future."
Although di Montezemolo is aware that F1 costs are too high, he believes restricted testing dumbs F1 down - something he is vehemently against.
"I think in soccer if you want to compete in the Champions' League, you have to buy good players, you have to train sometimes even five times in a day. This is competition," he said.
"I think that it is ridiculous that in F1, from one side, we are not allowed to test, and from the other side we are forced to spend a huge amount of money in the windtunnel in which we develop aerodynamics that I cannot transfer any of to my [road] cars.
"I don't want it to seem that I am a conservative old fan of F1. I think if we were allowed to do more testing, the scandal of the tyres [in 2013] would not have happened because even for Pirelli it is very difficult as they cannot do too many tests."
F1's testing ban has been relaxed for 2014, allowing a number of in-season tests to take place following grands prix during the year.

Ok for once ldm is right, but as most of the teams had financial troubles, the testing is not an option either, me prefer more fp during gp weekend and ban all simulaters which r expensive! They rather do 3 fp on friday for 2h and one on saturday for 2h... Unlimited tyres during than and some extra engines .....

i dont know...i just want all to be suitable to Kimi
very objective

Let's just ask FIA to ask Kimi what he wants, and do it.
After all, the man knows what he's doing, right?
