For me it's clear that the spin wasn't Kimi's fault. And that not only because of Kimi's words but also because of many former drivers saying that this down to mapping. Just don't get why this always happens to Kimi?
apart from that I don't think Kimi's pace was bad. Bit hard to compare to Seb as they were on different strategies, different tyres at parts of the race. Kimi actually on one stop, only 2 stop after the spin and he didn't gain from that, it's the question if they stopped because tyres wouldn't last or just to try and attack? Also Arrivabene spoke of issues which slowed Kimi down and Kimi had to save fuel more, because as Seb was fighting with others, he could use DRS more often and used less fuel through that.

Don't know, there is something strange. Kimi was slower than Vettel in the last laps, even with softer tyres. Ok, he had to save fuel but so the other drivers.
I honestly think the soft tyre was a better tyre if you are going to attempt a 30 lap stint. I can understand why Ferrari went to the SS.
I'm honestly not that worried about his pace. He would have kept Bottas behind if it wasn't for the spin.
I can't wrap my head around the weekend. Anytime it seems like Kimi is set up for success, we are left feeling disappointed. I feel like Bahrain doesn't happen as often as it should for a driver of his calibre. I'm really starting to worry that Kimi may be gone next year. Not that I think another driver would do much better.
The Ferrari is not a title contender and their main focus should be improving that car to fight for wins in early 2016. Ferrari will finish 2nd in WCC and Kimi will finish 4th in WDC. I just wish he would show us that flash of brilliance we all know he is capable of.

Seb said himself that he had advantage of DRS in first part of the race which helped with consumption so I guess he had to save less in the end. And I also think soft was better for that stint.

Did Ferrari make an official statement?
yeah it's so frustrating
official statement about the spin?
there are just Arrivabene's words:
quote“If we look at the race pace, it was good, but a lot of circumstances occurred which prevented us from getting a better result. Sebastian drove a great race, making up thirteen places from the grid position. The upgraded engine gave us a positive feedback, but the weekend just wasn’t a good one. As for Kimi, he was scheduled for a one-stop race, then we switched to two tire changes when he fell behind Bottas. His spin at the hairpin is something we haven’t fully understood yet, it may be a case of contributory negligence as he said the same thing happened last year. It would be wrong to blame either him or the team in any case. He was pushing hard, too, but some issues slowed him down at some stages in the race. We must remain humble and try not to let the podium slip off from under our feet as it happened this time. We’re still the second strongest team, but we must look ahead instead of behind us”.
quote"Kimi’s weekend is not so good, though. Well, he still finishes ahead of his team mate. But a podium place was for grabs until everything is ruined by a spin at the hairpin which allows Bottas to slip through. Maybe the incident was aggravated by an electronic glitch which is by no way worse than Seb’s on Saturday, but still annoying. It hurts seeing a huge potential not turning into the result you could have expected."
Quote: miezicat wrote in post #45can you upload Arrivabene's interview after the race? I would like to hear what he said
You can see it here from 02:34-03:06 https://www.facebook.com/263743060319498...?type=2&theater "I cannot tell you my feelings, because I would tell you bad words and I don't want to. We've thrown away a podium, this is the truth. While Seb made a great great race, but it's not enough anyway because he would have finished behind the Mercedes and we want to be in front."
The worst thing about this is that this happened to Kimi in a very bad timing. Having been his fault or not, he broked Ferrari's consecutive podium finishes this year, exactly when Vettel had problems and had the chance to shine in front of Marcchione (who for the first time was attending a GP).
He had already done his job in quali, he couldn't get the Mercedes guys in the race, but still no one would have said anything bad about him, on the contrary, if he would have made the podium, he would have been hailed the "hero" who saved the day and must probably would also have gotten his new contract signed right away.

so he didn't say that Kimi has thrown away a podium like some have said, he said we have.

I don't think Kimi would have been a hero and this would have decided the contract but sure this was Kimi's chance, it was an "easy" podium. which makes this so frustrating but on the other hand the spin is blown out of proportion. Kimi lost 3 points, not a win. But the italian media is having a bashing fest at the moment only Turrini is defending Kimi
quoteKimi Räikkönen: Ferrari cockpit 2016 in danger? An Insider says: "Although at the spin, technology has played a trick on Kimi, the mistake comes to the most inconvenient time possible. At Ferrari they think a lot about the 2nd driver in 2016." Does Arrivabene think too the mistake came at worst moment? The Italian shakes his head: "To insinuate Kimi something is totally wrong, because everything indicates that a technical problem was the cause of the spin. We saw from the data that the gas thrust set in in a way that I can only describe as brutal. Kimi's race pace was good, the spin was unfortunate."

was watching the full video now.. good to know that Arrivabene hugged Kimi and that they had a long conversation. just didn't get what she meant with the black pen?
