ZitatKimi's and Permane's exchange of words continued on the paddock
Kimi Räikkönen and Alan Permane shouted to each other in the team radio in Indian GP. The exchange of words continued in the premises after the race.
Julien Febreau posted a comment on his Twitter-account according to which Räikkönen gave an earful to Permane.
- The exchange of words between Raikko and Permane in Lotus premises after the race was brilliant. Kimi was surprisingly convincing, Febreau tweeted.
Permane shouted orders to Räikkönen during the race and he ordered Räikkönen to let Romain Grosjean past. The exchange of words included lots of swearing words.
ZitatThe media won't let Lotus rest after this - thank you all who defend Kimi xxxx
Lotus-fans outraged: "Apologize to Kimi, Alan!"
27.10.2013 klo 21.09
The team-radio episode in Indian GP and the comments given to the media after that, have outraged the F1-people in Lotus-team's Facebook-group.
There they demand Alan Permane to apologize to Kimi Räikkönen in public. Permane's command escalated into swearing when he tried to get Kimi to let Romain Grosjean ahead of him.
His stunt created an exodus from Lotus-team's fanpage in Facebook. And also colourful comments, which all defend Kimi Räikkönen.
- Lotus, The Employer of year 2013. Salaries always late and employees are critisized in public by using fuck-words. What next? Kari Lampinen asked.
- Thank you, Alan Permane. A really professional way to manage drivers. A big mistake. Kimi did everything perfectly and Lotus would be nothing without him, Jani Back writes.
- Did Permane order Grosjean to "give fucking way" when Kimi was a second faster than Grosjean for five laps? Arvin Sharma asked.
- Please, give us a decent explanation why Alan swore to Kimi in the team-radio in public, Thomas Chan demanded.
there is only one thing that kind of interests me - will Permane be hired by any of other top team in next few years after all the blinders by Lotus? Media talks one thing, but team principles see thing more clear and understand when team makes too many mistakes. Only reputation of 'small team' saves him from heavy criticism.
Zitat von miezicatladora! nice to read from you here
Hello!! :D " title="hug" />
Zitat von miezicatI never thought this Kimi-Lotus relationship would end like that and the season is not even over so it could get even worse..
My thoughts too. Contrast this to the start of this year when Kimi won the opening race in Oz and everything was so upbeat and positive!! Seems like a completely different world now. My worry now is that with 3 races to go I'm just wondering how much more badly things can go at the team between Kimi and Lotus... and now that it's pretty much more or less confirmed that Alan has it in for Kimi (and that the team is so clearly backing RoGro as #1 driver now), I wonder how much more they can/want to screw him over.
Zitat von miezicatI think Kimi was fighting there too hard, I have the feeling that he made it more dificult for Romain than for Rosberg for instance and that wasn't necessary. But I would have to watch it again to see when it started and if Kimi could have let him past earlier. Cause clearly that wasn't a very clever spot to overtake. On the next long straight he would have gone by without any dramas. Anyway I can understand the team telling him to let Gro past. But not in that way! And when people defend that with saying Kimi can take that.. yeah of course but that's not the point. That's not how you speak to your driver. maybe he thought that wouldn't get broadcast but since a few races they do and just *beep* the swearing out.
I have to rewatch that part where he made it tough for Romain. Since his tyres were already giving up, maybe he shouldn't have made life so hard for Romain - and I can understand frustration from the pitwall when they see things like this, but it sure as hell doesn't warrant an outburst like Alan's. I keep seeing on Twitter people saying that foul language is commonly used on the radio to stop it from being broadcast, but in this case it was different - the tone and the context that the foul language was used was just unnecessary.
Zitat von miezicatI don't agree that Kimi shouldn't race anymore. Kimi had a say in the strategy so Lotus can't be blamed alone on it.
Me too, I personally don't think Kimi should sit out the last 3 races, even if he's given that choice to do so. I think it's unprofessional and I don't want people to start bringing up issues about his 'motivation', that he's petty, etc. Our Kimster is not like that. As for strategy, I don't think Lotus should be blamed solely for it too. Kimi had a say in the strategy as well and sometimes risky strategies work out and sometimes they don't. Maybe Lotus, with all the information they have on their screens should've advised him better. But we have no idea what was said or not said on the radio, so we can't really lay blame solely on either party.
Zitat von RagingjamaicanMaybe Raikkonen should constantly speed in the pitlane in the next up and coming grand prixs, should help Lotus financial wise.
Nice to see you Rage " title="hug" /> Great idea h" title="hih" /> But I´m sure: if he do it for purpose, he has to pay the fine " title="oi" />
I have to comfort a bit...Oskari Saari wrote despite the fact Kimis relationship with Permane is indeed bad his relationship with others is good. Saari wrote also Kimi has been now shut down to the outer circle. This means no data for his use and no technical meetings for him. But Kimi knows how it is,so he isnt too bothered.
I don´t have a problem with the team order itself but with the way Permane said it to Kimi! He should have used other words. As a company you should handle your emloyees with respect and not use swear words against them!
I also don´t blame anyone for the wrong tire strategy: once have to decide "left or right" and one direction is wrong. So it was with one or two stop strategy.
Well I ve posted a lot about this on other forums. It was just completely unprofessional. You just dont have a senior figure in a company screaming at employees in public or infront of customers. Even if the employee is in the wrong. You can scream behind close doors, but not a public arena I ve never seen any other senior team members screaming at drivers during the race, it is completely uncalled for.
But for me the biggest disappointment of the race was how Kimi's strategy was handled. Kimi race was completely screwed over in the first stint, when Kimi didn't pit at the same time as Vettel I knew his race was screwed. There was just no reason to keep Kimi out on the soft tyres. That was Permane's biggest blunder of the whole race, Kimi could have been second in this race. After that it was just one bad decision after the other. If the remaining races is the same it would just be unbearable, it didn't seems like Lotus had any concern over their position in the WCC. Permane is simply an idiot when it comes to strategy, and this weekend it proved it. It was his own fault that Kimi was in the position he was in to start off with. Permane is trying to divert attention from the fact that he did a terrible job the whole weekend long, it is about time that he admits his mistakes. Kimi never stood a chance with such a strategy.
thank you everyone for the sharing Kimi news " title="ty" />
Boudica, I agree with you. but remember, they are the one who answered "we don't know, Kimi. we don't know." last year on the radio when Kimi asked if the strategy not to change tyres during safety car was a right choice, or not " title="huh" /> even he was supported by the team, they screwed...how can they do better " title="drunk" />
ZitatLotus apologises for “emotional” Raikkonen radio message 2013 Indian Grand Prix October 28, 2013 at 5:18 pm by Keith Collantine
Lotus say a heated radio exchange involving Kimi Raikkonen during yesterday’s race was “not appropriate” and apologised for it.
In the latter part of the race Raikkonen’s pace had slowed due to tyre wear. He fell to third place and was being caught by team mate Grosjean, who in turn was under pressure from Felipe Massa’s Ferrari.
Grosjean caught Raikkonen on the straight leading to turn four. But Raikkonen moved to cover the inside of the corner, then forced his team mate off the track.
A censored radio message from Lotus’s trackside operations director Alan Permane to Raikkonen was played during the race broadcast ordering him to “get out of the ******* way”. Raikkonen swore back at his team and told them not to talk to him while he was cornering.
Lotus team principal Eric Boullier said: “Romain was two seconds per lap faster than Kimi at that time, so it was not even a team order.”
“By asking Kimi to let Romain pass, we just made the obvious choice, as Massa could have stolen our podium.
“With hindsight, this radio message could have been sent in a less emotional way. There was a lot of tension, a lot of potential technical problems, and some of the words that flew around were simply not appropriate.
“I know that quite a few people were surprised and I can only apologise for that on behalf of the team. It won’t happen again.”
Zitat von RagingjamaicanMaybe Raikkonen should constantly speed in the pitlane in the next up and coming grand prixs, should help Lotus financial wise.
Hahaha rage great " title="ha" />
Maybe he will hit permane with his car h" title="hih" />
I am glad Lotus issued an apology. I think they really encountered the wrath of the Kimi fans. They were getting a lot of negative publicity. I hope this curbs their future behavior and makes them treat Kimi fairly. They should be scared that if they do anything wrong to Kimi in the races the fans would be there. That would hopefully keep them in line until the end of the year.
