It seems Kimi has taken the surprise factor to his hands. Alonso must have" studied" Kimi during the summer and if he has believed all the rumours they have said about Kimi, that he is lazy, isnt interested in his team and shows up to the factory only if he has to...Kimi has done otherwise. He has behaved unexpextedly and I think this already digs ground under Alonsos feet. I dont think Kimi goes into the mind games or politics but he will be more there. Ferraris motives in taking Kimi could be anything but I know they were long after Kimi last year.
The entire situation hasn't made sense to me, even since the first rumours that Kimi may go to Ferrari. There's just something a bit odd about the situation. Ferrari would really pair two veterans who are arguably the best drivers in Formula 1?!
Boudica's analysis about why Kimi ended up where he did is perfectly logical. And looking at the situation from Kimi's perspective, this worked out perfectly for him. He is in a team which is developing its own motor and designing its own car under one roof. Something he couldn't get at Red Bull. Even though an offer from Red Bull would be highly attractive. Mercedes were better at producing downforce in 2013. But Ferrari were much better at controlling tyre temperatures over a race weekend. Both teams have their plusses and minuses. Let's just hope Kimi's "plan" works as he hopes. Because I really think Kimi has had a plan for some time and we are slowly seeing each piece of the puzzle put together!
It's always the same with Kimi (at least in the years I have followed him), the team that hires him know he's good but they don't think he's as good as he turnes out to be in the end. He always end up showing everybody what he is really made of again and again and again. But the results don't always show that reality, sometimes championships are also won by being in the right place at the right time. And Kimi hasn't been exactly where he should have been in several seasons. That's why many people don't believe he is that good and end up being "surprised".
But we know it... and more importantly, he knows it too. So lets just hope he really is in the right place at the right time this season, so he can demonstrate, once and for all, that he truly is one of the best F1 drivers ever.
quote (Compared to the last time he was at Ferrari in 2009, Raikkonen “is more mature, more expert, closer to the team. He’s already been to Maranello a lot; he comes he almost every week. He knows what he is capable of. He knows that this is an important challenge for him. He knows what he has to do with a champion like Alonso, with whim he has to work in an integrated way.

Surprised to hear that he visits them nearly every week (as he has never done that before).
But I don´t think that it makes such a big difference whether he is there or not! At least it didn´t the last few years as he was still pretty good!

Maranello, 12 February – As Stefano Domenicali mentioned this morning in the interview he gave to www.ferrari.com, Kimi Raikkonen is seen more and more often in Maranello, proof that he plans to get even more involved than in the past as he embarks on his second adventure with the Prancing Horse.
Today, Kimi’s schedule involved several meetings with the engineers to prepare the programme for the upcoming test sessions in Bahrain, as well as fine tuning his driving position in the cockpit of the F14 T.
This year’s race car was not the only Ferrari Kimi was keen to see close up and he ended the day having his first drive in a LaFerrari, the road car that represents the very essence of what makes the cars built in Maranello unique in the world. The Finn soon felt comfortable behind the wheel of the supercar, but there wasn’t enough time for him to test its performance on the Fiorano track. That will be for the next time, as Kimi feels ever more at home in Maranello!
I think it's important Kimi is there more often, especially against Alonso so I'm happy he does it

So you think Kimi is actually working towards or on some kind of plan? Interesting...
Domenicali said that Raikkonen "has respect for Alonso and will have to adapt to working with him". He added: "Fernando is extremely intelligent and has managed to stay ahead in whatever car he has driven. "He has an ability to interpret the race and to read it in an amazing way and I think he will make the most of the new regulations, which will require some stages of the race to be managed in a different way." http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/2616..._medium=twitter
I dont like some of these messages coming out of Ferrari. But atleast it seems like Kimi is really going for it. I guess there is not much else he can do at this stage.
