quoteKimi Raikkonen out of Silverstone test after 150mph crash By Andrew Benson Chief F1 writer
Ferrari are resting Kimi Raikkonen from this week's test session at Silverstone to aid his recovery from his high-speed crash at the British Grand Prix.
Raikkonen, 34, bruised his legs in a crash at more than 150mph during lap one of Sunday's race.
Marussia's Jules Bianchi will stand in for Raikkonen on Wednesday - but the Finn is expected to be fit to race in the German Grand Prix on 20 July.
"Kimi is fine. He wanted to drive," said a Ferrari spokesman. "But we want him to rest to let his bruises heal before Germany."
Raikkonen sustained an impact of 47G - 47 times the force of gravity - in his crash on the Wellington Straight.
Raikkonen has scored 19 points in nine races this season following his return to Ferrari.
The 2007 world champion ran wide at turn five and lost control as the car landed after hitting the bump between track and grass as he rejoined the circuit.
He speared into the barriers on the outside of the track before spinning back on to the track, where his car was clipped by Felipe Massa's Williams as the Brazilian tried to avoid contact.
The incident took both cars out of the race and caused a one-hour stoppage for the barrier to be repaired.
Three-time champion Niki Lauda, the non-executive chairman of the Mercedes team, said Raikkonen should have rejoined the track more cautiously.
Bianchi, 24, is a member of Ferrari's driver development academy and has been drafted in to help the team with their test programme.
Development driver Pedro De La Rosa will drive on Tuesday, the first day of the test.
Team leader Fernando Alonso, who finished sixth in the British Grand Prix, is at the team's base in Maranello this week working in the simulator
Uh, that music they put in the second video gave me the creeps.
I admit I was actually praying for Kimi in the start of the race, I remember I was excusing myself to God for disturbing him from probably more important stuff to deal with than an F1 race, but asked him to protect Kimi from harm anyway. I hope my prayer helped him avoid greater damage.
I am really happy that he is fine! Everything could have been much worse!
Shame that he misses the test because of the crash! =/ Hope Bianchi wont do too well ... I remember that after the test last year RB decided to take Ricci instead of Seb.

Caterham, Kamui Kobayashi, 15th “The main thing for me was I wanted to make sure Kimi was ok. It was a big crash, and while I was lucky to avoid it, I hope he’s ok. The initial reports I’ve heard are that he’s not too bad but I just hope that’s the case.

Here two comments from Kimis boss

We too
quote#Mattiacci "#Kimi did not use the word retirement. I have to work with him at best, without thinking about what will happen in 2016"
Man, some real sh*@& I read today in several places
Kimi is having a rough season and the haters are rejoicing while stepping all over him while he's down
Why did Kimi ever did to deserve all this?
A scene from a the movie "A Knight's tale" comes to my mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWgf-UqkD_A If only every day life could be like in the movies, where the good man always wins in the end.
I'm "naive" enough, but perhaps old, experienced and wise enough to know that a good man always wins at the end. because no matter what happens, internal peace is the most important thing.
but the road is difficult, and i'm afraid Kimi is at a difficult turn right now. Many times i think if he could have done something more. if there is something that he does not do, that could help him with this car. i dont understand the limitations that exist in this situation. where are the limits of driving style? why on earth he could not keep the car stable? is it so much at the opposite side of his style? cant this style be modified if he sees that alonso is so much ahead of him???
i mean, i honestly get afraid that the combination (this particular car + his driving style ) is not only a disaster for his performance but dangerous as well. how can there be not even a small improvement? at least i havent seen it...and dont get me wrong, i support him more than ever now.
I get the feeling that he doesnt want to change his driving style (if that is even possible). As harsh as it sounds but Massa did a better job than Kimi (I know Kimi has problems with the car but I guess Massa wasnt that comfortable with it either). I hope that Bianchi wont do too well at the test otherwise Ferrari might think that he could do a better job and would be much cheaper.
What worries me as well is that their is no improvement! After Barcelona and Monaco I thought that things would get better but instead it got much much worse! =(
That´s why overall I wont be too sad if he leaves F1 and has fun with something else! The thing is that on sunday after he was out and I knew that he is okay I could enjoy the race much more than I ever did this season! =S

PS: by dangerous i mean dangerous for him!!!!
I agree and don't understand either.. one limitation is maybe the pull rod suspension. it is said that this is harder to setup and takes longer time for changes.. he really hope Ferrari goes back to push rod next year. could Spagnolo be a factor too? I don't think it's possible to compare Kimi with Massa, the cars this year are totally different, no idea how Massa would have done in this Ferrari.. But yes the difference to Alonso is too much and it's getting only worse not better I don't know why it is so hard for Kimi this year, surely he didn't have perfect cars each year in the past but still he was able to get everything out of the car.
First I have to say, in TS there was article long ago about the problems. Kimi has indeed changed his driving style, they said its the one way to try to cope with this car, and he has changed it specially towards Alonsos style. But as its not his natural style, as its not any Finns natural style because these roads here make you love more oversteery cars than understeery, he suffers a few tenths especially in quali trim. In his accident it was clear to see, the car just didnt turn, its not as he came too fast into it, he was in line with others. The problem in the car is its fundamental design, one piece of the puzzle is push rod suspension and the suspension generally. Its too lazy and not stiff enough for Kimi. Its so big, they cant change it because they should change the whole car. Add that to the tyres that do not favour Kimi as Vettel either, he has similar problems with the tyres, but Red Bull is better behaving car than Ferrari overall. Third point is, I heard Kimi said to a friend the car is totally made for Alonso.
