"Walk on, through the wind, Walk on, through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, YOU`LL NEVER WALK ALONE!!!"
quotePaul Weaver The Guardian, Sunday 5 October 2014
The Williams performance chief Rob Smedley has said the light at the end of the race was worse than at any grand prix he could recall.
“It was certainly very dark at the end,” Smedley said. “I would say in the 15 years I’ve been involved in Formula 1 races that was the darkest I’ve ever seen a race event. I have to say I was happy when the safety car came out. I didn’t quite understand what the reason was at that point with what was going on, but I was happy that it came out so everybody could slow down.”
I've read lots and lots of coments on this and the truth is, we can't blame anything and anyone until we know the exact reason why Jules crashed.
The main concern, I think, was why wasn't the safety car deployed when the recovery vehicles were on the track, considering the already trycky conditions.
Finally watching some parts of the race... very difficult to watch how everything just went going as if nothing had happened. Since the crash wasn't shown on TV and one couldn't actually see Jules' car behind the truck, nobody knew what was going on. Our commentators even thought the truck was stuck, then that they were checking Sutil, then that there was some marshal injured. But it was just after they kept showing the Marussia team on TV that they realized Bianchi had went off too.
It's time to go to sleep for me now, I wanted to hear some good news first but no word right now.
I watched the race more than 12 hours after it happened - was avoiding news for the whole day, not checking anything...
What a horrible situation and BBC guys apparently didn't notice anything until it was very late just chatting about Lewis victory (I don't try to blame anyone, just an observation). It was very dark and all those 'twilight' games are not good. This can be a reason for commercial right holders to lose some powers. Hopefully this opportunity won't be missed, since such risk should not be taken just for 'another dollar' arriving into BE pocket...
Nomad, you're the rider so mysterious Nomad, you're the spirit that men fear in us
one must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star - it's a satanic drug thing you wouldn't understand...
It was the same in German TV, they noticed the Medical Car came out, so they thought something happened to Adrian Sutil. Then they hear his message that he is allright and thought its something with a marshall. After this they noticed, that Bianci is missing on the track! Horrible!
There is a statement from his team this morning. They are waiting for his parents. This poor people
just saw the crash itself... horrible. He went it carrying a lot of speed. What I can't understand - marshal on the tower waving green flag before and after... not blaming, just can't understand...
I accident is really scary to watch I really hope this poor guy will come okay
I had the same question and I read about the green flag. What I understand: it is okay that they wave the green flag because it count for behind the trouble area. Its like you drive in a speed limit zone and there is a sign, that the speed limit does not longer count. I read the comment from a marshall from Austria. He said its okay to wave the flag there. No mistake.
For sure a very scary crash. The same as Sutil's but the difference was that Sutil hit the tyre barrier, while Bianchi hit the crane and the barrier was already open so the car kept on going completely out of the track. The Marshals that were there could've easily been run over by the car too. Definitely should have deployed the safety car the minute Sutil crashed, but it's easily said afterwards.
I want to think that he could still get out of this OK because usually crashes in F1 look scary and then the drives come out OK, so I hope this will be the case this time too. Meanwhile I'll keep praying for this young guy's life.
