Quote: Sonny wrote in post #11That's a really good question. I wonder if F1 has ever done this.
I wouldn't be surprised if F1 pushed it back until Monday if the weather was too severe for the cars on Sunday. How long will the typhoon last though?
how long it lasts but Monday isn't an option anyway since the race in Russia is already next week. So they only can push the race forward. And the race with local time 15:00 is already a bit late so they don't have much gap if there will be a red flag. So racing at earlier time or even Saturday probably a good idea.
Kimi ended on P5 in FP1. In the last half hour his lap times were a mess. Luv told via twitter his engine sound horrible. So we can say: a FP1 like all the time

We are really getting back to the old Ferrari days.
quote“Today wasn’t easy and the lack of grip from the track surface, especially in the morning, didn’t help. This is a fast and tough track, very demanding for both car and driver. In the first practice session, on the Hard tyres, we concentrated on testing different set-ups aimed at qualifying and the race, then in the afternoon, we made some changes which brought a partial improvement to the handling of the car. But because of the yellow flags and a technical glitch, I only managed to complete just one good run on the Medium tyres. Now we have a full night’s work ahead of us in order to find a set-up that will allow us to get the car to suit any sort of condition.”
NoNe and Clarky and all the others who come and read/post... We are in chat during the most FPs, quali and race. It would be nice if you join us- if you want. We have always a lot of fun there We have a little problem with the chat so maybe you need to enter the chat twice or reload it, but then it should work
#Kimi: “Today’s performance was in line with the whole weekend so far and even if I’ve had a good feeling from the car, I was unable to resolve a few problems already encountered on Friday. In the morning’s free practice, a technical problem meant I had to stop running earlier than planned and that prevented us from testing some new components, which would have been useful for the set-up choice. The team did a great job to get my car ready for qualifying in record time. In the first sector, I had a few balance problems and that stopped me pushing as hard as I wanted. I did my best today and tomorrow we will try and make up some places and have a good race.”
These qualifying sessions are getting so hard to watch. How much can seriously go wrong for one driver?
There's no reason he should be 0.8s behind his teammate in Q3, especially when his teammate's time didn't improve from Q2 to Q3. It's just so damn frustrating as a Kimi fan!
I'm starting to think that there is only so much that can be done with setup on these 2014 cars. They seem to suit some drivers and others are mystified. Vettel, Hamilton and Kimi all looked "lost" today in qualifying.
Quote: WHATEVER wrote in post #29I think it's also because they have wet set ups for tomorrows race, at least is what Vettel said.
Different Teams. Different Cars. Red Bull could be more aggressive or less aggressive on their wet weather setup compared to Ferrari. And Vettel may be "more" aggressive in his wet weather setup (more downforce) and thus was slower in qualifying. The only way we will know for sure is in the race (if they do properly race in this typhoon).
The only good excuse for Kimi would be if he went with a very aggressive wet weather setup (high downforce) compared to Alonso (who is more neutral). Then we would expect Kimi to be quicker in the wet. This would explain the gap. Otherwise, 0.8s is very hard to swallow.
