I think lotus just started focussing on him being an integral part of the 2013 season. he would've decided to give it a try, maybe because the terms with mclaren didnt come out right.
Zitat von Olgawho? Kimi? Brawn said Rosberg stays with them....nah...Kimi id staying at Lotus. i guess he knows better...
I dont think this is necessarily Kimi's choice. Mclaren have just always gone for young drivers. When Mika left they got Kimi, when Kimi left they got Lewis. So it is just a continuation from that. Perez will properly stay a few years and then go to Ferrari. Ferrari likes drivers with experience and Mclaren will give him that. If he is good enough he could then take over from Alonso. Ferrari dont want Perez now, because if he is being marked for a replacement for Alonso, he cant be seen as the second driver against Alonso right now.
Unfortunately, Kimi's future in F1 looks pretty bleak to me. This was the last semi chance, there will not be an opening for Kimi in any of the top teams ever again. Lotus is already far behind, so next year things will be back to normal with the big teams like Red Bull, Mclaren and Ferrari being far ahead. That means he will be less of a factor in the WDC next year. Things have worked themselves out at Lotus this year, but I cant see things remaining the same. Lotus makes no secret that Grosjean is their driver for the future, and if they want Grosjean as a future, then they are not going to want to see him being beaten by another driver. Just like the Ferrari example with Perez. Kimi will just never have full support in Lotus. I wish Kimi, had rather gone with Williams then Lotus. If he was at Williams he would have been up against a paydriver, they wouldn't have an issue to make him the no. 1 priority, and I bet Kimi would have been in the same position in WDC as he is now.
Who knows what will happen in 2014, but again I dont see Lotus being in a great position they are not the Renault factory team anymore. So we could properly expect a few years of Kimi trundling along in the midfield. A frustrating position for a driver who is practically always in contention for the WDC. Kimi might as well, just return to rally again.
Boudica, i'm afraid i agree with you....this was a great chance for a move to a top team....and i'm more afraid i'll have to agree with the rest as well. but...there is always a probability things will go in a better direction even if small

Mclaren went for a younger driver when they had a solid driver in the other seat. Going with perez, is he that big a young prospect as the other drivers you find on the grid, like di riesta and hulk. I do really think lotus will support Kimi to the fullest, they are a well managed team, even though u can question their capabilities. I dont think they are gonna be behind grosjean, if they are into formula1 as a business, fully backing a relative unknown wouldn't be on their agenda
I'm still in the wait and see mode. I'm hoping Whitmarsh is different than Ron Dennis and going after the young drivers. Jenson and Raikkonen would make a very solid pairing!
I thought the rumour about Alguersuari was that he was going to Caterham? It seemed so after hearing him in commentray laughing at Petrov. (That could mean nothing, but not sure if he's done that at all before).
And Perez to Sauber? " title="blink" />
I think I've found him to be a tad overrated. When he's got the podiums it's because he's had the car and mainly the strategy this season, while Korn on the Kob-ayshi has had the other strategy. He seems to make mistakes, and is very hot headed. Kind of reminds me of Maldonado who is similar, although more crash probe, we've seen how many times he can be on the podium but through bad luck he's missed out on 2.
I'm quite disappointed, I thought both Force India drivers deserve a top drive. They've had the same amount of races as Perez, yet I would class them as maturer and cool headed, yeah they've not had the results, but they've not had the car like Perez either.
Hamilton to Mercedes is another disappointing one, although I can't predict the future, and I think Mercedes will have success, I do think he was better off at McLaren, we may not see a great driver contending for a title in the following years, but then his relationship with McLaren seemed strained, but in the last race it looked fine! :hm
Regarding Kimi and Lotus next season, what are the chances of lotus being strong next season? I thought if the chance came, he would go to McLaren and Mercedes, McLaren a bit of a long shot as he turned them down, and I don't see them changing their ways just to get Raikkonen on board.
And finally...where does this leave The Buemi? " title="moose" />

Sergio Perez gets Lewis Hamilton's McLaren seat By Jonathan Noble Friday, September 28th 2012, 08:02 GMT
Lewis Hamilton's switch to Mercedes has been confirmed after McLaren announced that Sergio Perez is joining its squad for 2013.
Ahead of an official announcement from Mercedes about its driver line-up plans, McLaren ended weeks of speculation about Hamilton's plans with the Perez swoop.
Perez joins McLaren after two seasons in Formula 1 with Sauber, and a campaign where he has delivered three podium finishes so far, having come close to victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The Mexican had been most strongly linked to a future at Ferrari, as part of its young driver programme, but its president Luca di Montezemolo said several times that he did not think the youngster was experienced enough for a team like Ferrari.
McLaren obviously feels differently, and believes that it can harness Perez's talent to fight for the world championship alongside Jenson Button in 2013.
Speaking about the multi-year agreement McLaren has signed with Perez, team principal Martin Whitmarsh said: "It was a string of giantkilling performances, a trio of podiums and a brilliant fastest lap in this year's Monaco Grand Prix that showed us that Sergio lacks nothing in terms of speed and commitment.
"We've been monitoring his progress carefully for some months - and, now that he's become part of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team, our task will be to refine and develop his abilities as his career progresses over the coming years.
"Uniting Sergio alongside Jenson will give us a very broad base of driver ability. Jenson is one of motorsport's greatest ambassadors, and his unique blend of prodigious speed and canny racecraft makes him formidably well-armed to fight for victory on any grand prix circuit in the world.
"While Sergio is still developing his palette of skills, we're convinced that he's not only talented and quick, but also that he's willing and eager to learn.
"He's perfectly poised to develop into a world championship challenger. His addition to the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team provides us with the perfect two-pronged driver line-up for the new season."
Perez added: "I'm thrilled and delighted to have become a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver.
"The McLaren name is one of the greatest in the history of Formula 1. For more than 40 years, McLaren has been a team that every racing driver has aspired to drive for - I was brought up on the great stories of Ayrton Senna's many world championship triumphs for McLaren - and I'm truly honoured that they've chosen me to partner Jenson from 2013 onwards."
