Leo does really have lots of inside information! =) And it´s good that he likes Kimi! Hope he gets to interview him this year!
"Walk on, through the wind, Walk on, through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, YOU`LL NEVER WALK ALONE!!!"
quoteIn Taormina with Briatore (and Mameli) (*italian national anthem creator) The Racing NerdJanuary 13, 2014
Translated by our foreign correspondent, Claudio Acquista Leo Turrini Formula1 January 10, 2014 Speaking about presentations of the car, the most surreal which I happened to witness took place in Taormina. It was January, 1996. Flavio Briatore was not yet the Boss on TV (*in fact over the last 2 years, Briatore has been on Sky Italy Tv with a show about becoming a manager…the show is called: The Apprentice). Schumacher had just moved to Maranello. Believing himself to be a genius, the tanned Flavio hired the couple Berger-Alesi. He said something memorable: “I will make them win with Benetton! They lost in the past because of the Ferrari”. Here, in fact, I shockingly witnessed an unprecedented carnival show! Briatore was in great shape. He also said that Ferrari no longer represented Italy; that Italy now identified itself in us (Benetton) in the racing world for Formula One…. Then, I started thinking about the Virgin Islands and between the ruins of the ancient theatre of Taormina, which almost made me faint. Not only that, but at the climax, while Alesi and Berger were wagging their tails around him, the excellent Flavio asked: “please, a moment of silence” as Italy’s national anthem shot out like a cannon ball (*at high volume). Briatore, with his hand on his heart sang out, “Brothers of Italy, Italy has awoken….” (*italian national anthem verses). All of this I documented, huh. I ventured to write that the whole thing may have seemed a bit too much, slightly ramshackle. I may have been the only one, yet, I documented it all. Nevertheless, the rest of the story (who represented Italy, with a large German driver at the wheel, guilty, however, of not speaking in the language of Dante) is delivered on the rolls of gold, to archives, to curriculation. Truly, I really am like the android in Blade Runner. “I’ve seen things you humans …..” and so on.

Two or three things to talk about.
First, Jenson Button’s father has left us. His name was John, was seventy years old, and had a certain idea of life in the pits. whenever I saw him, I would instinctively think of Lord Hesketh, the man who launched James Hunt into Formula One. He was quite a character. I will miss his cheerfulness, even though it was not the rigid patterns of modernism or “ecclestonian” that Bernie so falsely perfected.
Then, today two new guys showed up in Maranello. Kimi has landed in the founding house again (*Maranello) for a full immersion in the simulator. He works until Wednesday, and apparently has not yet organized games of ice hockey in that of Fanano (*a small city)… surely the acclamation he collects between the workers when they recognize him is really resounding! The rest, we’ll find out in due course.
And finally, his assignment dedicated to relations with sponsors of F1, Ferrari is debuting (today) a dear friend of mine. His name is Jonathan Giacobazzi. He’s from Modena, although he is the name of a famous literary seagull (*Jonathan Livingstone famous book) and briefly here, I’m glad to wish him bon voyage, indeed, given the suggestion of the romance, book good flight. http://www.racingnerds.com/?p=3523
i would think that regards should be better be translated as farewell....
I have outstanding narration of the encounter with the Holy Drinker.
In fact the photo already said almost everything (taken, on the honor, by ubiquitous Renato Bisignani, PR Ferrari), in the sense that in such circumstances, very random, it is not that we can leave a disquisition on the Two Chief World Systems.
I entered the Montana for a disastrous convivial ceremony with Cola (aka Luca Colajanni, treacherous predecessor of Bisi).
We settle in the room, under a beautiful big picture of Alonso.
While we eat paccheri a waiter came to bring the Lambrusco.
Then we hear a voice: "and where is your friend Cat’s Eye?"
I am a bit surprised, I turn around and see Kimi at the place of Alonso.
Truly, I say, I bring you the greetings of Odin and Mazgiorg (no, I say, I want to see how they translate this post in Oulu and Turku, ahem ahem)
Nice guys, he does.
As the 2007 World Champion (in t shirt despite the cold, two mysterious tattoos at the biceps, a cap, which is very U2′s The Edge, Beautatiful Day, One, With or Without You, Walk On, Magnificent) is surrounded by the entire squadron (race engineer Spagnolo, mechanics, the logistics officer Balocchi, the Bisi and blah blah blah), the conversation moves on to really important things.
That is, we talked about a game of ice hockey to play in Fanano, against the formation led by Cat’s Eye, excuse me, by Alonso.
But keep the news secret, I do, because every nonsense that I write on your behalf to me immediately translated into Finnish, then defend your privacy.
Kimi laughs like a child. Honestly I’ve seen drivers in clusters, but one in a state of ecstasy like this does not happen to me a lot of time that we meet. You see that he is really happy, he feels to be back at home, or did not understand what kind of missile is to extract from the cellar of a certain Adrian Newey.
I explain some bizarre theories of a certain Nelson66, technician of the Clog. "Nice guy", repeats the blond. Then the story about the time at Interlagos and the heart attack that I had a few days later, due to an unexpected surprise of a victory.
He laughs and says, ‘Are you ready for the next one?’
I do not know if he was referring to the heart attack or the world title in 2014.
With this outstanding mystery, I wish a good weekend to all.

So, where were we? Ah, yes. I left the narration of my encounter with the Holy Drinker (*Kimi) pending… but the picture (taken, honor to his merit, by the ubiquitous Renato Bisignani, Ferrari’s P.R.) I took with him already said almost everything in the sense that in such circumstances (really random), it is not that we can leave a disquisition about the Maximum World Systems.
I came in to the Montana Restaurant (*a famous Restaurant near Maranello where you can often meet Ferrari’s staff) for a disastrous (*maybe for the enormous amount of food and drinks) convivial ceremony with Cola (aka Luca Colajanni, perfidious predecessor of Bisi). We settle in a small room, under a beautiful blow-up (*really big picture) of Alonso. While we were on the first dish paccheri (* a kind of good Italian pasta), a waiter came to us to offer the Lambrusco wine. Then we hear a voice (*it’s Kimi speaking): “And where is your friend Cat’s Eye (*Cat’s Eye, in Italian Occhi di Gatto, is a famous bloggara, a girl who reads Leo’s blog and knows Leo)?” I got a bit surprised and turned around to see Kimi instead of Alonso (*who was more probable to meet). I reply: “Truly, I should convey the greetings of Odin and Mazgiorg (*two bloggers who are Kimi supporters of course)”. I say: (*Leo is speaking to his bloggars now) “Hey! Now I want to see how they translate this post in Oulu and Turku languages, ehm ehm” (*Leo knows that his articles are translated in more than 12 countries and so he is curious about how they will translate these strange bloggers’ names!). “Nice guys”, he (*Kimi) says.
As the 2007 World Champion (in a t-shirt despite the cold, two mysterious tattoos at the biceps, a cap, which is really similar to U2′s The Edge one, Beautiful Day, One, With or Without You, Walk On, Magnificent) is surrounded by the entire squadron (race engineer A. Spagnolo, the motorists, the logistics officer Balocchi, Bisi and blah blah blah), the conversation moves on to really important things. That is: we talked about a match of ice hockey to play in Fanano, against the formation led by Cat’s Eye, excuse me, by Alonso. “But I suggest to keep the news secret, because every nonsense that I write on your behalf, they immediately translate it into Finnish…….so let’s defend your privacy”. Kimi laughs like a child. Honestly I’ve seen pilots in fits of laughter but it was indeed rare that I happen to meet one in a state of ecstasy like that. You can easily note he is really happy… to be back at home. Or maybe, he did not understand what kind of missile (*rocket) a certain Adrian Newey is going to extract from the cellars…..
Come on! I explain some bizarre theories of a certain “Nelson66,” our blog’s technician (*Nelson is a blog reader who is an engineer and often he writes about technical aspects of the GP…). “Nice guy”, repeats the blond. So I tell him the story about that time at Interlagos (*2007) and about the cuddly (*the crying) I took a few days later, due to the unexpected surprise of victory. He laughs and says: “Are you ready for the next one?” I do not know if he was referring to the cuddly or at the world title in 2014. With this outstanding mystery narrated, I wish a good weekend to all. http://www.racingnerds.com/?p=3529
Quote: Boudica wrote in post #158Now that was pretty confusing, I wonder if Kimi has 2 new tattoo's? That is the only thing I could really make out clearly?
I wonder too. It could be Turrini got it wrong with the biceps and just means the two old ones but why then mysterious? Can't imagine he didn't notice the old ones before?
Quote: momo wrote in post #161But most of the article is a silly joke. Come on, just imagine if Kimi reads the blog of Turrini...
Yes it does all seem like a joke. There is no way Kimi would read his blog. He properly cant really discuss what was being said. Or there was never much of discussion as Kimi was eating out with his mechanics.
What have we understood about this new Formula One season after four days in Jerez? I try to summarize.
1) You are all crazy. More than four thousand (!) written comments on winter F1 test is the record of the records! I am proud and honored, so moved I want to thank you.
2) The Mercedes turbo at the moment has a supplementary gear.
3) I do not understand the touchiness of some stupids: in short, it is clear that the real news is that the Red Bull does not move.
4) After that, I remain convinced that it is a kind of fake joke. I mean: I believe that between Renault and bibitari (*Red Bull staff), they have the means and talent to find the solution. They will find it and for all the competitors, it will be a really tough time!
5) It’s possible that the origin of the flop is in the really extreme choices designed by Newey. However, if he wasn’t so extreme, he is not Newey.
6) The Ferrari of Ice & Fire is not bad. It turns (*on the track), it does not break, it is also quite fast.
7) At the moment, the atmosphere that has been created between Kimi and Fernando is really positive. They were having fun playing the role of “Two Irresistible Boys”. I bet on this pair, so I’m very satisfied.
8) Personally speaking, I’m happy for Massa, but if he wins the championship, I will retire in seclusion.
quoteSugli sugli bane bane, but how simulates Kimi ...
Sugli sugli bane bane. Tu miscugli le banane. Le miscugli in salsa verde chi le mangia nulla perde. (You mix bananas, you mix them in green sauce those who eat them will lose nothing.)
Apparently this terrific song of remote Italy is the tune that Kimi shoots himself in the ears when you grant him the torture of the simulator.
He was there also today, the Blond (by the way, he was more in the Ferrari simulator in two months than in two years in Lotus. A very nice guy, he goes there now).
In Maranello when they see Raikkonen back are all in good mood, seriously.
The atmosphere is positive.
The machine I am afraid much less.
However, mixing bananas in green sauce, the F 14 T moves slowly (how slowly?!?) to Melbourne.
