I can think of a few reasons. #1 is Adrian Newey stepping back from his designing role and not being as involved. Seb and Adrian were unstoppable with the EBD's. In addition, Newey's protege (Prodromou) is now at McLaren. Maybe Seb is worried about their future? I'm sure having Renault engines onboard isn't helping him want to stay. He will likely be the first F1 pilot to take an engine penalty for using a 6th engine this year.
And then there is always that draw to Ferrari. There was a time when every pilot dreamed of driving for the Scuderia. Schumi, Kimi, Alonso without going too far into history. Maybe it's always been his dream to drive there?
On Thursday Press conference, when someone asked Vettel about rumour for next year he said probably 17 drivers link with the Mclaren seats and the way he smile made me feel like something was up in his sleeve
You should hear what has been said in this last minutes, I've even heard about Kimi retiring and Vettel pairing Alonso On the other hand, I've also heard nice rumors like Newey to Ferrari. That may convince Kimi not to retire just yet.
Let me say I don't like any driver changes being announced so early, it should be done in the last race. Because it makes life very uncomfortable for a lot of people inside the teams.
Whatever team mate Kimi ends up with, I just hope their driving styles are similar.
He did say that, but he's just told Crofty "It's not for me to say where he's going", obviously forgetting that half an hour ago that's exactly what he did.
Re KImi On Sky just there was an interesting convo.
Kravitz : "Are you hinting at Raikkonen doesn't have as good as, the same car as Alonso"
Crofty : "People have hinted that to me, i'm not saying it but that's the story i've heard"
Kravitz: : "That Alonso somehow has control over Kimi having a worse car than him"
Davidson : "Had, control"
Crofty : "Some parts are newer than others, some upgrades, maybe not enough time to manufacture two of them"
Well for this session things were "normal" ie: problems on Kimi's car, but yes, hopefully better results will begin to appear, just hope there's no gearbox penalty.
Mika Salo said he waits it to be fun at Ferrari with Kiminand Seb. They work similar way and are not political at all. It could be a benefit to Ferrari as drivers have same kind of approach. I have also heard Kimi havent got new updates and parts but Mattiacci put that to an end.
I'm really starting to like Mattiacci, I'm glad he got to see thru Alonso and Kimi to the point of realizing who they really are and did something about it.
