quoteHulkenberg to stay with Force India for 2015 20 Oct 2014 Share this article Twitter Facebook Email Nico Hulkenberg will remain with Force India for the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship, the team have confirmed.
The 27-year-old German is enjoying his best season to date in 2014, having scored points in all but three Grands Prix. He currently sits eighth in the drivers' standings.
I think when Alonso/Raikkonen are ready to retire: Hulkenburg will be in the running to replace them in a top tier team. He's been very good for a while. it's a shame he can't get in race winning car while he's still "young." (i use that as a relative term!)
translation: Alonso has got things wrong, he has only McLaren as option but that is a long time project like Ferrari, not what he was looking for. So a year out is possible but that he wants to get paid and at best from the team he is still working for and maybe still contracted till 2016. In the scene it's told that there are different legal opinions about the opt out clause, that Alonso or one of his representatives signed. It's about the time that ALonso has to be worse than 3rd in the championship to be free. In the thought that the date was around the Italian GP, the termination was signed. But 3rd place apparently was refering to the end of the season. And theoretically Alonso can still get 3rd place.
Apparently Alonso's lawyers are sure that under these circumstances the option and therefore the sign are not valid. So Alonso would still be a Ferrari driver next year. Rumours say Alonso is giving Ferrari the choice: either a pay off or a drive. Ferrari doesn't want. Why should they pay a driver who wants to leave? Drive isn't possible beacuse they have two drivers with Kimi and Vettel.
Mediation talks have lead to no solution yet. Both parties want to avoid the courts. They prefer a compromise and a noise free solution. If Alonso doesn't sign for Mclaren soon, Ferrari will probably have to pay him. Then they can finally announce Vettel.
Quote: WHATEVER wrote in post #94I'm not sure I understand... The problem is if he still gets third or regardless he wins a third place or not?
Anyway it's funny how Ferrari will probably end up paying a driver who won't drive again
regardless as they say the condition under which the termination was signed was wrong. I don't know if that would matter though.. and if that story is even true but it's possible

Seems Sauber has the same problem as Ferrari next year: too many drivers. They confirmed Ericsson as driver for 2015. And they have Sutil with a contract and Gutierrez. And there is a rumor Guido van der Garde will drive for them. Maybe they should drive in shifts
Fernando Alonso finalises switch to McLaren F1 team By Jonathan Noble Monday, November 10th 2014, 09:53 GMT
Fernando Alonso, F1 2014
quoteFernando Alonso's switch to the McLaren Formula 1 team is set to be confirmed before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, once the team knows who his team-mate will be.
Sources close to the Woking-based outfit have revealed that Alonso has now finalised a big-money move from Ferrari to McLaren next year, renewing a partnership that ended prematurely in 2007 after a tumultuous campaign.
His decision to accept McLaren's overtures has, however, forced the team into making a difficult decision between Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen for the seat alongside him.
EDD STRAW: Choosing between Button and Magnussen
The closeness of their performances this year has left the team unable to come to a swift conclusion about who should line up alongside Alonso.
For while Magnussen has impressed with his pace this season, it is Button's higher scoring rate and experience, which would help development of the new Honda engine, that has left some senior figures believing it should go with him.
It is suggested that Alonso would prefer for Button to remain on board next year because it would help accelerate the team's push towards the front of the grid.
However, financial factors could also play a role in the decision, with Magnussen being a much cheaper option for the team.
BRAZIL PERFORMANCE A BOOST FOR BUTTON
Button did his chances of earning a new contract no harm in the Brazilian Grand Prix, coming home fourth behind the two Mercedes drivers and Felipe Massa's Williams.
It is understood that meetings will take place at Woking this week to finally settle whether it is Button or Magnussen who stays on board in 2015.
Button: I've got nothing to prove
Button said at the weekend he is keeping focused on his driving, hoping it is enough to win over McLaren's bosses.
Kevin Magnussen, Jenson Button, USGP 2014 "I'm here to race [and] do the best job I can which is what I try and do every weekend," he said.
"Sometimes it doesn't work out but most of the time it does.
"All you've got to do is drive the car as fast as you can and carry yourself as well as you can. The rest isn't in your hands."
VETTEL ANNOUNCEMENT IMMINENT
Confirmation of Alonso's 2015 plans will clear the way for Ferrari to finally go public that his replacement next year will be Sebastian Vettel.
Will F1 driver moves pay off?
As part of its settlement with Alonso to end his contract early, Ferrari agreed that it would not announce its 2015 line-up until the Spaniard had settled his future.
However, Red Bull's decision to go public at the Japanese Grand Prix that Vettel was leaving for Ferrari has meant his switch to Maranello became an open secret.
I also hope that Button can stay, he does deserve that seat.
It is really strange how things work out sometimes, Kimi is back at Ferrari again and now Alonso is back at Mclaren again. Most people thought these drivers would never drive for the these team again. Only in F1...
